What Are ACEs?

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are traumatic experiences that disrupt children’s brain development.

What we know…

  • Positive experiences in infancy and early childhood build strong, healthy brains and lay the foundations for emotional and social successes throughout life.
  • Negative experiences can lead to developmental setbacks in children’s brains and potential life-long challenges (emotional, physical, social, multi-generational).
  • ACEs know no geographic, demographic or socio-economic boundaries.
  • There are 10 Common ACEs. Do you know your ACE score? Take this quiz to find out.
